How do you cite a quote from romeo and juliet in a text book?
would you put shakespere or the author of the textbook in the ( ) ?

You have two options.
1. Find the original quotation in Shakespeare or
2. Use this parenthetical citation: (Shakespeare qtd. in Barry 45). Barry is a stand-in for the text book author's last name. Of course if you mention Shakespeare in the sentence, you don't need to mention him in the citation.
