Saying Goodbye Essay
Option 1:
Graduation Speech Frame for Essay
Write an essay which could be read as a speech at graduation explaining to classmates that they will be saying goodbye to many things in their lives in the coming months: their childhood, their friends, their family, the high school they've faithfully gone to for 4 years, their neighborhood, etc. Then, give ideas about how to cope with those losses and move on positively in life.
Choose 2 poems (of literary merit) that deal with "saying goodbye," loss, or separation. In the essay, you'll refer to lines from your poems to serve as ideas or evidence of the advice you've given.
Option 2
Simply find two poems about "saying goodbye" or loss and compare the two poems. For this essay, you'll basically explicate or analyze each poem much the way you did for your poetry test two weeks ago. The TPCASTT method may help you.
Each senior can decide the way the essay will work best for them.
